All about IIFT exam



IIFT Full Form is Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. IIFT exam is conducted for admission to MBA-IB course at IIFT Delhi, IIFT Kolkata and IIFT Kakinada. It is an objective –type and computer based test. NRI and foreign students can also apply for admission at IIFT through the GMAT. IIFT exam is conducted at approximately 220 cities across India. Moreover, there is no particular age limit for taking the IIFT exam. The major sections of the exam are- Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and General Awareness. Candidates get a total of two hours (120 minutes) for completing the exam. 

A candidate is eligible for the exam if he or she has secured atleast 50% marks in his or her graduation degree of atleast 3 years duration from a reputed or recognised college/university. Moreover, candidates in their final year of graduation can also take the exam. 

The exam is conducted online mode. The total number of question varies from 110 to 123. The marking scheme is also variable, i.e., it is different for different section. However, for a wrong question, one-third of the marks per question will be deducted.

Also, there is no particular section wise duration allotted to each section of IIFT exam. Therefore, a candidate can devote as much time as he or she wants in each section. However, candidates should keep in mind that there are individual sectional cut-offs of each section. 

The IIFT Syllabus is no different than any other management aptitude tests of India. The section wise syllabus for IIFT is- 

  • Quants- Arithmetic, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Permutations, Combinations, Probability, Geometry, Logarithms, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Number Systems, and Progressions & Series. 

  • Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation- Bar Graphs, Caselets, Line Graphs, Pie Charts, Coding, Decoding, Series, Arrangements, Input/Output, and directions. 

  • Verbal Ability- Reading Comprehension, Word Meanings, Spellings, Grammar, Synonyms/ Antonyms, Figures of Speech, Parajumbles and Odd man out.

  • General Awareness- General Knowledge questions related to Awards, Books, Literature, Recent Happenings, Science, Films, International Affairs, Banking, Economics, etc.
